Summary Introduction

To review:

Identification of given components* as cofactor, coenzyme, apoenzyme, holoenzyme, or none of these.

*- Refer to the book

Introduction:

The activity of an enzyme depends upon the amino acid side chains in their active site, as well as nonprotein cofactors. Cofactors can be certain metal ions or organic coenzymes that are either loosely or tightly bound to the enzyme. Cofactors play an important role in the catalysis of enzymes. Coenzymes are bound to enzymes by covalent or noncovalent bonds andform holoenzyme. The inactive enzymes that lack an essential cofactor are called apoenzyme.
