Interpretation: The naturally occurring trisaccharide that cannot be digested by humans has to be identified.
Concept introduction: Carbohydrates can be classified on the basis of their molecular size such as monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Those carbohydrates which contain three to ten monosaccharide units are known as oligosaccharides. These monosaccharide units are covalently bonded to each other.
