Introduction:
There is always a complementary base pairing between the purine and pyrimidine in DNA double helix. The base adenine (A) forms two hydrogen bonds with thymine (T) whereas guanine (G) forms three hydrogen bonds with cytosine (C). The structure of DNA can be damaged by certain xenobiotics, which include base analogs, alkylating agents as well as intercalating agents.
