The relation between oxaloacetate concentration and ketone body formation has to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
The process, by which ketone bodies are formed, is called ketogenesis. The degradation of fatty acids produces acetyl CoA. Acetyl CoA reacts with oxaloacetate in the citric acid cycle. But in the presence of a large amount of acetyl CoA. Excess of acetyl CoA in the body is utilized in the formation of ketone bodies.
