Orlov, Aleksey Grigoryevich, Count
 
 
(lyksy´ grgôr´yvch, rlôf´) (KEY) , 1737–1808, Russian nobleman; brother of Grigori G. Orlov. He and his brother headed the conspiracy to put Catherine II on the throne of Russia. It is alleged that he was the actual murderer of Peter III. He distinguished himself in the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–74.
