Brown, Walter Folger
(fl´jr) (KEY) , 18691961, American cabinet officer, b. Massillon, Ohio. A lawyer of Toledo, Ohio, he became prominent in Republican politics and was (192729) Assistant Secretary of Commerce. As Postmaster General (192933) under President Hoover, Brown secured a reduction of air mail rates and a consolidation of air mail routespolicies that aided the development of commercial aviation.
